<note>These lectures, presented primarily to social workers, have been formulated with the idea of making available in direct, pertinent, and unambiguous statement, psychitric concepts regarding the psychological development of the individual. Throughout, ambiguous and controversial concept as well as confusing terminology have been avoided wherever possible.Some words, however, have, with time, assumed a significance that now qualifies their use. these words will be defined in an attempt to clarify their meaning and use in the material under discuccion here. A further purpose of these lectures is to present a review of material with which many workers are already undoubtedly familiar but which is here organized in outline and schematic form. The psychological development of the individual will be traced in its successive phases from infancy to adulthood, and it is hoped that througt such a summary the normal pattern of development may be clearly demonstrated. In addition, the points at which deviations are likely to occur and the causes of deviation as well as the ultimate result will be indicated.</note>
